My iPhone 4 and Those Pesky Reception Bars

It has been a few weeks now and with a bunch of daily experience under my belt I thought it was time to post some notes about my iPhone 4 and the signal strength issue.  The bottom line for me is that I can occasionally "make" the problem happen by holding the phone the "wrong" way, but not very often and not at all predictably.  I can sometimes make the bars go down, but sometimes I can't do anything to make it change.  It just doesn't happen for me.  And of course I am not seeing any extra dropped calls with my new phone.  I didn't usually have dropped calls with prior iPhones, and I see no change in this situation.  So for me this is a non-issue.  But I know there are people out there who are having a real issue and that's what's interesting to me.  Why does this vary from phone to phone?  Why can I not make it happen, but others can't avoid having it happen?  I don't have an answer to this, but somewhere within that question lies some interesting data and maybe a revealing truth.  Frankly I am much more concerned and annoyed by the funky white/balance problem and the mis-aligned proximity sensor.  So this is a beautiful phone, but for several "other" reasons I can't wait for the first OS update.  Bring it on.

Thanks for the post. Hoping to upgrade before Oshkosh. Of course, there likely will be an AT&T crash again this year.
